• Medical Devices
• Computer & Information Technology
• Energy
• Environment
• Agriculture
• Aerospace

Potential Economic Impact and other Benefits to Puerto Rico

The successful development and commercialization of the proponent's technology should impact the local economy by one or more of the following:

• A new tech based start-up or expansion will be created
• New products/services or technology will be developed/commercialized
• New high-tech jobs will be created or saved
• Increased high-tech exports
• New R&D contracts will be obtained
• Patent(s) awarded and commercialized

Proponent Evaluation and Selection Criteria

The following factors will be considered when selecting potential awardees. The applicant should have:

• A technology with a compelling service or solution to a real marketplace need
• A global market focus/potential
• A scalable business model
• Proven management/technical capabilities
• A capability to submit competitive R&D Contract/Grant proposals
• Proprietary technology/patent (or in the process of obtaining)
• Started or refocused its business plan within the last five years
